2012 Concerts

Choral Classics: Fauré's Requiem, Haydn's Te Deum.

Choral Classics

Saint Patrick's Basilica, Fremantle

For our second concert for 2012, PUCS presented a concert of superb choral classics in St Patrick's Basilica as part of the 2012 Fremantle Festival. Accompanied by organist Dominic Perissinotto on the magnificent Basilica pipe organ and conducted by Jonathan Paxman, the choir was joined by soloists Thomas Friberg (baritone) and William Huxtable (treble) for the sublime Requiem by Gabriel Fauré. The Requiem was composed shortly after the death of Fauré's parents, yet it features some of the most uplifting music in the canon. Also featured were Joseph Haydn's Te Deum, and the thunderous Insanae et Vanae Curae, as well as two beautiful motets by his younger brother Michael.
