About Us

PUCS has been part of the choral landscape in WA for more than 60 years. We began life in 1960 as the Undergraduate Choral Society at The University of Western Australia. Nowadays, while PUCS still rehearses at UWA, we are no longer officially affiliated with the university, and welcome all members of the community equally.

Our members represent the diversity of the Perth community, and our repertoire is equally diverse. In order to expose choristers and audiences to a wide range of choral music, PUCS performs works of many different musical styles, ranging from traditional choral classics to contemporary Australian, including pop, jazz, musical theatre, and sacred and secular works from all around the world.

PUCS normally performs two concerts each year and is available for hire to perform at weddings and corporate events, including our annual Christmas Carolling performances.

About the Puck

Logo E3ac491465   The figure "Puck" is inspired by the character of the same name from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" As Shakespeare has depicted Puck as a satyr - a pleasure-seeking half-human, half-goat - we have happily followed suit. PUCS is musical and mischievous, the essence of what "Puck" represents.

Meet our Conductor

Sarah 6add83a139   Sarah Mills Menogue completed a Bachelor of Music, majoring in classical piano, at WAAPA in 2009. Upon her graduation, she received the awards for the most outstanding graduate from the Bachelor program and the Arts and Education Faculty Medal for outstanding scholarship. She went on to study choral conducting under Professor Péter Erdei at the Kodály Institute in Hungary and was later invited to participate as a full conductor at the Sarteano Chamber Choral Conducting Workshop under the direction of Simon Carrington. In 2012 she founded the Barnabas Singers choir and currently continues to work as a freelance musician in the Perth community as a choral director, pianist and music teacher.
